All right, everyone, welcome back for another deep dive. Today. We're looking at well, I guess you could say a mob boss's mansion.
Speaker 2:Uh-huh, yeah, that's one way to put it.
Speaker 1:You know what I'm talking about, right? The Sopranos house is up for sale.
Speaker 2:Big news in the TV and real estate worlds, for sure, I mean $3.4 million.
Speaker 1:that's no small change, but hey, for a piece of television history Located in New. Those of you keeping score. But really, it's not just the price tag that's got people talking, is it?
Speaker 2:Not at all the Sopranos. It had such a huge cultural impact and this house it was practically another character on the show.
Speaker 1:Okay, so, for anyone who hasn't had a chance to binge the show yet, and what are you doing? If so, why does this house?
Speaker 2:matter. This wasn't just some random set. Think about it the Sopranos house, it represents that whole world, the family, the secrets, the less than legal business dealings.
Speaker 1:Right. Remember all those scenes around the pool family therapy sessions, pool parties Not exactly your average suburban backyard barbecue right.
Speaker 2:Exactly, and you know what gets me that contrast. You've got this imposing exterior all brick, very traditional, but inside it's surprisingly modern, Open floor plan kind of dated decor.
Speaker 1:Kind of like Tony Soprano himself right.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Trying to hold on to those old school values in this new world.
Speaker 2:Exactly, you hit the nail on the head. And don't even get me started on that basement.
Speaker 1:Oh man, so many iconic scenes down there, dark kind of creepy, speaking of what lies beneath the surface. $3.4 million, that's a lot of dough. What do you actually get for that?
Speaker 2:Well, your article mentions 5,600 square feet, four bedrooms built back in 87. That's a lot of house for your money.
Speaker 1:No kidding, Most new builds these days are what? Half that size.
Speaker 2:Pretty much. The average is around 2,600 square feet, so you're getting more than double the space with the Sopranos house, Plus you know the historical significance. But we got to be real Location, location, location.
Speaker 1:Yeah, we're talking Newark, new Jersey, not exactly the most glamorous zip code.
Speaker 2:Exactly so. Is that price tag justified? Are they banking on diehard fans willing to pay a Sopranos premium? That's the million dollar question, isn't it?
Speaker 1:Speaking of million dollar questions, let's say you win the lottery tomorrow, you buy in this house.
Speaker 2:Oh, tough one.
Speaker 1:Right, I mean imagine the watch parties in that basement. The possibilities though maybe skip the ducks in the pool. Yeah, let's not get too authentic, but seriously owning a piece of television history like this.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Talk about a conversation starter.
Speaker 2:Imagine telling people yeah, I live in Tony Soprano's house. Instant street cred.
Speaker 1:Right. But then there's the other side of the coin too.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, definitely the privacy concerns potential for overzealous fans on your doorstep 24-7.
Speaker 1:Living in a museum dedicated to someone else's life. Could you handle that?
Speaker 2:It's a lot to take on, and would you even want to change things, remodel, or would you feel obligated to keep it as a shrine to the show?
Speaker 1:Talk about a homeowner's dilemma, right Right. It really makes you think, if not the Sopranos house, what would be a good real estate move these days?
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Especially with the market being what it is.
Speaker 2:Totally, and you know that got me thinking about something from the article. They mentioned multifamily properties. Maybe that's the savvier investment. Less about owning a piece of the past, more about, you know, building for the future.
Speaker 1:Really interesting point. So, to bring this back to all of you, would you buy the Sopranos house? What would you do with it? Hit us up on social media and let us know. We want to hear your thoughts. Until next time.
